Amy Verdun
Amy C. Verdun (born December 27, 1968 in The Hague ) is a Canadian political scientist and professor of political science and European studies at the University of Leiden . She grew up in the Netherlands to Canadian parents.
Act
Amy Verdun graduated from the University of Amsterdam with a Masters Degree in Political Science with a major in International Relations . From 1991 to 1992 she worked as a research assistant at the University of Leiden . She then completed a doctorate in political and social sciences at the European University Institute in Florence , which she received in 1995 with the degree Ph.D. completed.
From 1995 to 1996 she taught at the University of Essex . Since 1997 she has held the Jean Monnet Chair at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Victoria , where she is also director of the Jean Monnet Competence Center in Canada. As a visiting professor she taught at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne , in 2004 at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and in autumn 2009 at the University of Leiden.
Memberships
Verdun was a board member of the Canadian European Community Studies Association -Canada (ECSA-C) from 1996 to 2006 . At the same time, she was President of Research Committee 3 (RC-3) of the International Political Science Association (IPSA) from 2000 to 2006 and a board member of the European University Institute Alumni Association (EUI AA) from 2003 to 2006. From 2005 to 2007 she was treasurer of the executive committee member of the US academic and professional association European Union Studies Association (EUSA), thereafter until 2009 general secretary there . From September 1, 2014 to January 31, 2015, she was a Theme Group Fellow of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS), a research institute in Amsterdam .
Publications
Verdun has already published well over a dozen specialist books and published numerous articles in scientific journals, including in the Journal of Common Market Studies , of which she has been co-editor since July 2010.
