Anastasios Kriekoukis
Anastasios Kriekoukis ( Greek Αναστάσιος Κριεκούκης , born March 14, 1948 in Athens ) is a Greek diplomat .
Life
He studied law and then did his military service as a lieutenant at sea. In 1974 he was admitted to the bar and accepted into the diplomatic service after the overthrow of the colonel's dictatorship. First he worked for two years in the political department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then he worked as a consul in the embassy in Paris and in Rio de Janeiro . From 1984 to 1989 he was Consul General in Dortmund . From 1989 to 1991 he was head of the Latin America department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens. From 1991 to 1995 he acted as counselor and later as envoy at the Permanent Mission of Greece to the European Union in Brussels . From 1995 to 1999 he was ambassador to Tbilisi . From 1999 to 2002 he was head of the EU's External Relations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2002 to 2006 he was Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva and President of the United Nations Compensation Commission for the Iraq War . Then he was chief of protocol at the State Department. From 2007 to 2010 he was the Greek ambassador to Germany. He speaks German, English, French, Portuguese and Italian.
