Anatoli Leontjewitsch Tscherepowitsch , Russian Анатолий Леонтьевич Черепович , engl. Transcription: Anatoly Cherepovich , (born July 30, 1936 in Simferopol , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union , † August 2, 1970 in Losowe in a car accident) was a Soviet cyclist .

Athletic career

Tscherepowitsch was a military man and thus a state amateur of the Soviet Cycling Association during his sporting career . He achieved his success in road bike races and was 19-year-old USSR champion in individual road driving as early as 1955. He was then nominated for the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne , where he finished 15th in the single road race as the best USSR driver. In 1957 he drove for the first time in the three-country stage race Internationale Friedensfahrt . He won a stage and was 13th in the overall individual ranking. Tscherepowitsch started six times in the peace run and achieved his best result in 1961 with 4th place. He was a five-time stage winner. In 1963 he took part in the Tour de l'Avenir and achieved his best result with 3rd place on the 1st stage. In the final classification he did not make it into the top twenty. In 1964 he took part in the peace race for the last time, finished second and third and retired from the race after a fall on the last stage. Then he ended his active time as a cyclist.
