geography
Ancoraimes is located on the Bolivian Altiplano on the western edge of the Cordillera Real , only 40 kilometers from Ancohuma , the third highest mountain in Bolivia. The climate in the Ancoraimes area is derived from the altitude on the Altiplano and the proximity to the large expanse of water of Lake Titicaca, which mitigates the temperature fluctuations. The climate is arid from June to August with only sporadic rainfall and humid in the summer months, especially from December to March, with monthly rainfall of more than 100 mm. The annual precipitation is around 600 mm.
Transport network
Ancoraimes is located 131 kilometers by road northwest of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.
From La Paz, the paved national road Ruta 2 leads seventy kilometers north to Huarina , from there the Ruta 16 leads another fifty kilometers via Achacachi to Ancoraimes and on to Puerto Carabuco .
