Anders Ronny Åslund (born November 30, 1956 in Hagfors , Värmlands län ) is a former Swedish football player . The striker is the younger brother of the Swedish international Sanny Åslund .

Career

Åslund, like his brother, began playing football at Sörby IK . In 1976 he was signed by AIK , but was initially only used in the reserve team. The attacker made his debut in the first team in a game against Eintracht Braunschweig in the Intertoto Cup , which ended with a 1: 2 defeat for the Swedes. As a result, he was able to establish himself in the club's first division squad, but had to wait until the spring of 1977 before he came on April 23 in a 1-1 draw against Halmstads BK as a substitute for his debut in the Allsvenskan . From then on he was used irregularly and scored his first first division goal on May 18, 1977 in a 1-1 draw at home Råsundastadion against IF Elfsborg . Nevertheless, he could not prevail permanently, as his brother Sanny, Ove Rübsamen and Yngve Leback were on the offensive. It was not until the autumn of 1978 that he made the long-term jump into the starting line-up when he scored five goals in six games in September and October of that year. Even at the beginning of the 1979 season he was permanently in the starting line-up, but since he remained without scoring for a long time, he found himself often only on the bench in the second half of the season. However, since his teammates were hardly in danger of scoring, AIK ended the season on a relegation zone.

Åslund's big hour came in the second division . Together with Sven Dahlkvist , Göran Karlsson and Ove Rübsamen, he played all 26 games of the season and with 13 goals this season he prevailed before Rübsamen, who scored eleven, in the internal goalscorer list. At the end of the season, AIK was three points ahead of Örebro SK at the head of Division 2 Norra and thus managed the direct return to the Swedish House of Lords. After the rise, the club signed a new coach with Rolf Zetterlund and Åslund immediately lost his regular place in the storm and was only used in eleven games in the 1981 season . Therefore, he decided to leave the club after the end of the season and moved to IFK Västerås , where he ended his career in 1984.

After the end of his active career, Åslund moved to the coaching bench. In 1986 he took over the coaching position at IFK Täby , inheriting his brother. After two seasons he ended his engagement. In the 1990s he was a youth coach at Erikslunds KF for several years .

Åslund is currently working in the travel industry. Having owned travel agencies since the 1980s, he has been a senior executive at MZ Travel since 1999 .
