Anders Bergström (born September 4, 1968 in Los ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Bergström, who competed for the Domnarvets GIF and the Falun-Borlänge SK, won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Saalfelden in 1988 with the Swedish cross-country relay. He made his debut in January 1989 in Kavgolovo in the cross-country skiing world cup . There he took 12th place over 15 km classic and thus got his first World Cup points. In the 1993/94 season he achieved 20th place in the overall World Cup. He achieved his first podium in the World Cup with third place in the 15 km freestyle in Lahti . At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , he came in 22nd place over 30 km freestyle and sixth place with the relay. In 1995 he became Swedish champion over 50 km. His best result at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay was eighth in the 50 km freestyle. In the 1995/96 season he came under the top ten four times in the World Cup, including third place over 50 km classic in Oslo and at the end of the season he finished 13th in the overall World Cup. In the following season he achieved the 12th place overall and in the sprint world cup. The fourth place over 15 km classic in Falun was his best individual result. His best results at the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1997 in Trondheim were sixth place over 50 km classic and fifth place with the relay. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , he came 23rd over 30 km classic. In his last season, 1998/99 , he was eight times in the top ten in the World Cup. He finished third in Otepää over 15 km classic and won his only single World Cup victory over 30 km classic in Falun. He also won in Muonio and Falun with the relay and finished second in Davos with the relay. His best placement at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Ramsau am Dachstein in 1999 was sixth over 30 km freestyle and with the relay. At the end of the season he reached 13th place in the Sprint World Cup, sixth place in the overall World Cup and fourth place in the Long Distance World Cup.
