András Both von Bajna ( Latin Andreas Both de Bayna , Hungarian bajnai Both András , Croatian Andrija Bot od Bajne ; † September 13, 1511 in Croatia ) was a Ban from Croatia.

biography

András Both de Bajna was a member of Matthias' famous Black Army . The general ( hadvezér ) was sent by the king to Bohemia in 1468 to fight against George of Podebrady . He was victorious at the Battle of Fiume (1474). He was főispán of Ung and Semplin counties (1483), főispán of Zala and captain of the fortress and city of Zagreb (1489), captain of the cities of Senj , Montigrecensis , etc. As captain of Medvedgrad CastleIn 1488 he defeated Viktor of Podebrady . He was a member of the royal court ( kir. Udvar tagja ) (1483) and private advisor ( bizalmas híve ) to Matthias. He was a popular military leader and commanded under his own banner ( Zászlósúr ). He is the Hereditary Baron of the Kingdom ( baron Regni ) in 1498.

From 1487 to 1490 he was Ban of Croatia . He was several times Ban of Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatia : 1482; from October 12, 1504 to 1507, then from 1510 to September 13, 1511 when he died in office.

He was the son of István Both of Bajna, knight, man of the king, lord of Bajna and other places. He was the brother of Johann Both von Bajna († 1493), Ban of Croatia. He was married to Anna Csáki.
