Both is the name of an old, important Hungarian magnate family .

history

The family Both came from the gender ( genus ) of Osl from Csorna that in the 9th century at the Hungarian Conquest was involved.
The coat of arms was issued on February 21, 1460 in Buda by King Matthias Hunyadi . It is made of parchment (dimensions 37.2 cm × 53.3 cm) and bears the seal of King Matthias. The document is kept in the Hungarian State Archives in Budapest under the signature DL 73414.

In a red heraldic shield with a blue bar slanted to the left there is a sideways inclined armor . He holds a crossbow in his hand and a shield ( tartsche ) in his arm . As a helmet bulge , the coat of arms shows a pair of red eagle wings - a reference to the Osl family - with a diagonal blue bar. Crest : red and white blankets.
