André Luy
André Luy (born January 12, 1927 in Tramelan ; † April 6, 2005 in Lutry ) was a Swiss organist , church musician and music teacher .
Life
André Luy received his school education in Saint-Imier . After studying in Neuchâtel and at the Conservatory in Geneva , he served as organist in Morges (1950-1952) and worked in Saint-Imier (1952-1957). In 1957 he became titular organist at the cathedral in Lausanne , where in 1992 he was appointed Organiste Honoraire ("Honorary Organist "). He gave numerous concerts in Europe, North Africa and Japan and released several recordings, including with the trumpeter Maurice André . As an organ teacher he taught at the Saar College of Music in Saarbrücken (1967–1990) and at the Lausanne Conservatory (1974–1992). 1983 awarded him the University of Lausanne , the honorary doctorate .
