André Marceau (born May 5, 1946 in Cérons ) is a French clergyman and bishop of Nice .

Life

André Marceau enrolled in 1964 in the seminary of Bordeaux and received on 25 March 1972, the priestly ordination . First he worked in the municipality of Saint-Vincent de Mérignac. From 1982 he was head of the department for catechism in Bordeaux before he was appointed Episcopal Vicar in 1992 and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bordeaux in 2003.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Perpignan-Elne on January 13, 2004 . The Archbishop of Bordeaux, Jean-Pierre Ricard , donated him episcopal ordination on March 7th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Guy Marie Alexandre Thomazeau , Archbishop of Montpellier , and André Louis Fort , Bishop of Orléans . In the French Episcopal Conference , Marceau became a member of the Council for Interreligious Dialogue.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Nice on March 6, 2014 . The inauguration took place on May 11 of the same year.
