André Patry (medical doctor)

André Patry (born September 14, 1876 in Sèvres , † November 17, 1971 in Geneva , reformed , resident in Geneva) was a Swiss ophthalmologist .

Life

André Patry was born on September 14, 1876 in Sèvres as the son of the engineer Edouard Patry and Marguerite Julie, nee Schoenauer. After completing his Matura in Geneva, Patry began studying medicine in Paris , which he completed in 1905 with the academic degree of Dr. med. completed. A year later, Patry returned to Geneva, also passed the Swiss state examination and trained as an ophthalmologist in Freiburg im Breisgau , Vienna , London and Zurich . In 1909 he was appointed private lecturer in ophthalmology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Geneva. In addition, Patry worked as chief physician at the Rothschild eye clinic in Geneva.

He was also a member of the Geneva Red Cross committee between 1929 and 1949 . He also acted as a founding member of the medical welfare office in Les Eaux-Vives and several societies, including the Société Français d'Ophthalmologie and the SAC .

Patry was particularly committed to the Red Cross. During the First World War he made a great contribution to caring for French soldiers.

He was married to Julia Sophie Emma Hélène, the daughter of the banker Alois Bouthillier de Beaumont. André Patry died in Geneva on November 17, 1971, two months after turning 95.

Honor
