André Pirro
André Pirro (born February 12, 1869 in Saint-Dizier , Haute-Marne department , † November 11, 1943 in Paris ) was a French musicologist and organist.
life and work
André Pirro received his first music lessons from his father Jean Pirro . In 1889 he went to Paris, where he attended the organ classes of César Franck and Charles-Marie Widor at the Conservatory . In 1896 he became a teacher of organ and music history at the Paris Schola Cantorum . From 1904 he also taught at the École des Hautes Études Sociales . In 1907 he received his doctorate at the Sorbonne , where he became a lecturer in 1912, associate professor in 1930 and full professor in 1935. Marc Pincherle was one of his students .
