André Rivest (born April 28, 1942 in Repentigny ) is a Canadian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Chicoutimi .

Life

André Rivest was ordained a priest on May 14, 1966 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Montréal and titular bishop of Thubursicum on June 27, 1995 . The Archbishop of Montréal, Jean-Claude Cardinal Turcotte , ordained him episcopal on August 15th of the same year; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in Montréal Jude Saint-Antoine and Leonard James Crowley . As a motto he chose Messagers d'espérance .

On June 19, 2004, he was appointed bishop of Chicoutimi . On November 18, 2017, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
