Andrea Felber (born November 18, 1981 in Bruck an der Mur ) is a former Austrian ski racer . She mainly competed in the downhill , super-G and giant slalom disciplines . In the European Cup she achieved two podium places in Super-Gs and in 2001 she was Austrian runner-up in the downhill. As the daughter of World Cup starter Evi Pröll and niece of Annemarie Moser-Pröll and Cornelia Pröll , skiing was practically "in her cradle".

Career

After primary school in Spital am Semmering , near her home town of Steinhaus , Felber attended the main ski school and the ski trade school in Schladming . From 1996 she belonged to the Styrian youth squad, in November of the same year she contested her first FIS race . In December 1997 and January 1999 she started in the European Cup for the first time , but remained far from the points or could not finish the races. In 1998 Felber was accepted into the junior team of the Austrian Ski Association . On January 22nd, 1999, she celebrated her only victory in an FIS race in the giant slalom in Rauris , after which she was promoted to the B-team in the same year.

From the 2000/01 season Felber was regularly at the start in the European Cup. On December 16, 2000, she also contested her only World Cup race on the downhill from St. Moritz , which she finished in 50th place. In March, she achieved second place in the downhill at the 2001 Austrian championships . In the following European Cup season, on January 22nd, 2002, she came sixth in the downhill from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee for the first time among the top ten. On February 11th she achieved her best result ever. Behind her compatriot Ingrid Rumpfhuber , she took second place in Sella Nevea's Super-G . This made her eighth in the Super G ranking. At the Austrian championships in 2002 , Felber was third in downhill and super-G. In the 2002/03 season she stayed without a podium, but came six times in the top ten. The next winter , she finished third in the Bardonecchia Super-G for the second time on the podium. With another two top ten results in the downhill, she took tenth place in the downhill and super-G rankings. In the 2004/05 season Felber fell back significantly. Fifth place in the downhill from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee was by far her best result. Otherwise she was only five times under the fastest 20. In winter 2005/06 she was able to improve again a little. During the first half of the season she was consistently in the top 15, twice in the top ten. Felber's last race was the FIS competition in Lutsen Mountain in early April 2006.
