Andrea Pellegrino (born March 23, 1997 in Bisceglie ) is an Italian tennis player .
Career
Andrea Pellegrino was a successful junior tennis player. He achieved his best placement there in August 2015 with rank 27 and was in seven of the eight Junior Grand Slam tournaments in 2014 and 2015, but did not make any of his appearances there beyond the second round.
In 2015 he also played regular professional tournaments for the first time, mostly on the third-rate ITF Future Tour . In the Italian Cordenons , he was also in the main draw of a challenger for the first time . He won his first future title in doubles in October 2015. So far there have been four more singles and three more doubles, all of which were played on clay. At Challengers, Pellegrino made it to the individual quarter-finals for the first time in May 2016 in Rome , after a. the third place in the list, Horacio Zeballos was able to defeat. He completed his first full professional year in singles and doubles in the top 500 of the tennis world rankings . 2017 went a little better. With two quarter-finals at Challengers and two future titles, he was 354th in singles and 336th in doubles.
In 2018, the Italian mainly played Challengers or their qualifications and managed to reach three quarter-finals, but by the end of the year, after he was still at his career high with 315th place in April, lost around 100 places in the ranking compared to the previous year. He was more successful in doubles. He won two Challengers in Caltanissetta and L'Aquila . In September it was listed higher than ever at number 173 and ended the year at number 202.
