Andreas Büchting

Andreas Joachim Büchting (* 1946 ) is a German agricultural scientist and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of KWS Saat .

Life

Andreas J. Büchting's parents are Carl-Ernst Büchting and his wife Johanne , née Rabbethge. About both of them he is the descendant of the founder of KWS SAAT Matthias Christian Rabbethge .

He studied agricultural biology at the University of Hohenheim and at Cornell University in Ithaca . After completing his studies with a diploma, he completed a postgraduate course in economics at the Free University of Berlin . In 1977 , in addition to his work at KWS SAAT AG, he did his doctorate under F. Wolfgang Schnell at the University of Hohenheim with his dissertation Structural changes in a maize population after a selection cycle for combinability , a topic in the field of applied plant genetics.

In 1975 he started as a research assistant at KWS SAAT AG, but in 1978 he became a member of the executive board in succession to his father, and in 2008 switched to the management of the supervisory board. Between March 2005 and January 2009, Büchting was also a member of the Supervisory Board of Conergy AG.

Andreas J. Büchting is appointed Senator of the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina , without being a member, as well as Deputy Chairman of the Bioeconomy Research and Technology Council from 2009 to 2012 and member of the Indo-German Consultative Group (German-Indian advisory group).
