Lower Saxony State Prize
The Lower Saxony State Prize has been awarded by the State of Lower Saxony since 2002 . From 1978 to 1999 it was called the Lower Saxony Prize. The award is presented by the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony .

The prize is awarded to people who have made a name for themselves in the areas of culture, women, social affairs, science, the environment or business in Lower Saxony. A jury made up of ten people who are related to Lower Saxony will decide on the award. You will be appointed by the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony. The Lower Saxony State Prize is the most important prize in the state and is endowed with a total of 35,000 euros; it can be shared.
Until 1999, the then "Lower Saxony Prize" was awarded in three categories: the Science Prize, the Culture Prize and the Journalism Prize.
Winner of the Lower Saxony Prize
In 2000 the award was not given. From 2001, the division into the categories of journalism, culture and science was no longer given up. The artist and university professor Timm Ulrichs and the entrepreneur Jürgen Großmann were honored .

In addition to the Lower Saxony State Prize, the state of Lower Saxony awards prizes for literature ( Nicolas Born Prize ) and fine arts ( Lower Saxony Art Prize ) as well as music ( Praetorius Music Prize ) with their respective sponsorship prizes in the cultural field .
