Andreas Barth (* 21st November 1958 ) is a former German football player from 1979 to 1985 for the BSG Chemie Leipzig for and 1987 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in East German football , was active .

Athletic career

At the age of 17, Andreas Barth was accepted into the junior team of the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Leipzig in 1975. In the 1977/78 season he played with the men's chemistry II team in the third-rate district league . When defender Bernd Flor was out for a long time in 1978/79 , coach Dieter Sommer Barth took his place in the first team that was fighting for promotion to the league in the GDR league . With six point games, Barth was involved in the fact that Chemie was the season winner. In the eight promotion games in which the team achieved promotion, Barth was only involved with a 35-minute deployment in the first game.

For the league season 1979/80 Barth was not intended for the 1st team and was only used once in the first half of the season as a substitute. Instead, he was called up in the junior league. Even after Chemie Leipzig was relegated and played in the GDR league again in 1980/81, Barth was only used once in a point game. In addition, he was mainly called up in the district league team (formerly junior league). In May 1981 he was called up for military service in the National People's Army , but was still able to play football with the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Plauen . In 1981/82 he rose with the team in the GDR league, but was not used. It was not until the 1984/85 season that Barth reappeared in the higher-class league operations. He had returned to Chemie Leipzig, where he played the remaining 14 point games as a defender from December 1981 for the league team. Then he got down again with BSG Chemie, but was able to establish himself as a regular player in the two following GDR league seasons by continuing to complete 56 of the 68 league games as a defender. As a replacement for the injured regular defender Matthias Lindner , Barth was delegated to the first division club 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig at the beginning of the 1987/88 season. There he was used in seven league games, but returned after Lindner's recovery in November 1987 to Chemie Leipzig, where he was called up in 15 GDR league games until the end of the season. While he was only able to play 19 of the 34 games in the GDR league in 1988/89, he returned to his old level with 30 league games in 1989/90. As a result of the political change , BSG Chemie was restructured into FC Grün-Weiß Leipzig in May 1990, which merged with SV Chemie Böhlen to FC Sachsen Leipzig at the end of the season. The newly formed team that took the Oberligaplatz von Böhlen also included Andreas Barth.

In November 1990, the former GDR Oberliga was operated by the newly founded NOFV and was then referred to as Oberliga Nordost . Of the 14 teams, 12 fought for entry into the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga in 1990/91, although it was only enough for FC Sachsen Leipzig to participate in the third-class Oberliga Nordost from 1991/92. In the 26 league games, Barth was used in eight games, in the six qualifying games for the 2nd Bundesliga, in which FC Sachsen only finished last, Barth played twice. For both FC Sachsen Leipzig and Andreas Barth, there was no return to higher-class football afterwards. Barth played for Sachsen Leipzig until 1994, after which he let his career end with the lower class TuS Leutzsch. He could look back on 30 Oberliga and 128 GDR league games. As a defensive player, he did not score any goals.

The statement noted in some sources that Barth played for Erzgebirge Aue in 1990 is incorrect. It is the player Enrico Barth .
