Andreas Bernig (born February 14, 1957 in Rostock ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). Between 2005 and 2019 he was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament .

Life and work

After graduation served Bernig 1975 to 1978 as a sergeant on time in the NVA , where he trained as a professional telecommunication engineers graduated. He then worked for the Rostock District Council and the Rostock City Council until 1980 . From 1980 to 1984 he studied political science at the Academy for Political and Legal Science of the GDR in Potsdam-Babelsberg and graduated with a degree in political science. In the following years he worked there as a research assistant until 1988 and received his doctorate in May 1988.

On July 1, 1988 he became a member of the German People's Police of the GDR. With the rank of captain he acted as chief instructor for agitation and propaganda at the Potsdam district authority of the German People's Police (BdVP).

Bernig was a founding member of the People's Police Union (GdVP) in the Potsdam district and, from April 1, 1990 until its dissolution in October 1990, also deputy chairman of the GdVP of the GDR. Since 1991 he is member of the Executive Chairman of the District Board of Police Trade Union of the State of Brandenburg .

In 1990 he was transferred to the Brandenburg Police Department and in March 1994 he was appointed administrative officer at the Potsdam Police Headquarters . From May 1991 until his entry into the state parliament in October 2005, he was chairman of the main police staff council at the Ministry of the Interior of Brandenburg.

He is married, has three children and lives in Göhlsdorf .

Bernig was a member of the SED from 1975 to 1990. In 2000 he became a member of the PDS and in 2003 also a member of the state executive committee.

In the 2004 state elections, Bernig ran as a candidate for the direct mandate in constituency 19 Potsdam-Mittelmark III / Potsdam III , but initially missed entry into the state parliament. In October 2005 he succeeded Dagmar Enkelmann , who had been elected to the Bundestag . He became the spokesman for a tolerant Brandenburg , against right-wing extremism and member of the committees for the interior (2005-2009), for labor, social affairs, women and family (2009) and for European affairs and development policy (2013) for the left-wing faction in the Brandenburg state parliament. In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2009, he was able to move into the state parliament again via the state list of his party. Since then he has been the spokesman for labor market policy and unions. In the state election in 2014, he joined in constituency 16 Brandenburg I / Potsdam-Mittelmark I to.

Since 2003 he has also been a community representative in the community of Kloster Lehnin and since 2013 a district representative in Potsdam-Mittelmark .
