Andreas Bunte (* 1970 in Mettmann ) is a German filmmaker and installation artist who lives in Berlin .

life and work

Andreas Bunte first studied fine art at the Kassel Art Academy and then from 1993 to 1998 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . In 1999 Bunte Villa Romana was the winner.

The cinematic works by Andreas Bunte deal with topics as diverse as landscape gardens , electric light, the cultivation of artificial diamonds, German terrorism of the 1970s or Rhenish church buildings of the post-war period. In his installations and films he explores the question of how the interaction of architecture, technology and the human body produces different physical and spiritual spaces.

Colorful black and white films are based on the one hand on video technology and on the other hand appear inspired by the early experimental or amateur film. Part of his cinematic spatial compositions are also photo and material collages , which in their formal language are reminiscent of classic museum presentation patterns through their scientific and artistic staging.

For the art project On Site (2014), Bunte produced a series of short films that could be viewed using QR codes on designed posters in the urban area of Sennestadt on smartphones or tablet computers.
