Andreas Ice

Andreas Eis (born May 17, 1968 in Erfurt ) is a German political didactic. He has been Professor of Political Education at the University of Kassel since 2015 .

Life

After completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Eisenach and then working as a carpenter in Mannheim , Eis graduated from the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena with a degree in grammar school teaching specializing in social studies and philosophy . He completed semesters abroad at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Rennes ( France ) and at Michigan State University , East-Lansing , ( Michigan , USA ). For his thesis, Eis received the exam award from the Friends of the Institute for Political Science at FSU Jena. He passed the second state examination with the legal clerkship in Stadtroda in the subjects ethics and social studies.

From 2004 to 2008, Eis worked as a research assistant at the Professorship for Political Education at the Institute for Political Science and in several research projects at the FSU Jena. In 2005, Eis completed a graduate degree in empirical didactic research at the Center for Teacher Training and Didactic Research, also at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. From 2008 to 2009, Eis worked as a research assistant at the professorship for didactics of social studies at the University of Augsburg . His doctorate (2009) was entitled: “European Citizenship Education. The generation of conceptual interpretative knowledge in politics lessons as a new construction of the role of citizens in the European multilevel system ”.

From 2009 to 2011, Eis took on the deputy professorship for didactics of social sciences and political education at the Goethe University Frankfurt / M., Whereupon he was junior professor for the chair of didactics in political education and political education at the Carl von Ossietzky University until 2015 held in Oldenburg . Together with David Salomon ( University of Siegen ), Eis received the 2015 Walter Jacobsen Prize from the German Association for Political Education in the Innovation category .

Eis has been Professor of Political Education Didactics at the University of Kassel since 2015. His work and research focus are: European political education, transformation processes and socialization in unbounded democracies, diversity and participatory democracy education and qualitative learning and teaching research.

He is co-author and co-initiator of the Frankfurt Declaration for a Critical-Emancipatory Political Education.
