Andreas Fath

Andreas Fath (born February 18, 1965 in Speyer ) is a German professor of chemistry at Furtwangen University and a book author .

Career

After completing his military service, Fath studied chemistry at Heidelberg University from 1986 and initially graduated in 1993 with a diploma. Following this, he completed a three-year research doctorate , also in Heidelberg, and obtained his doctorate in 1996 with the Ph.D.
During his studies, Fath taught general , inorganic and analytical chemistry to students and took the opportunity to gain experience at various institutes and universities abroad. In 1990/91 he went to the
University of Madrid in Spain for one year and two months as part of an Erasmus scholarship , in 1994 to the University of St Andrews in Scotland for two months as part of a DAAD scholarship and in 1996 for another two months as a DAAD -Fellowship to the University of Valencia .

After graduating, Fath worked as a freelance writer, lecturer and editor .

Fath has been a professor at Furtwangen University since October 2011.

successes

Fath has received several science prizes , including the UMSICHT science award, and has been able to acquire various grants for research projects . He is not afraid, but pursue an unusual way: in 2014 he swam in a suit made of neoprene to 1231 km long Rhine from the source to the mouth to sponsors for a water analysis device to advertise and also the public for the water protection to raise awareness. In 2016, he published his impressions and first test results of the water samples from the Rhine in the book Rheines Wasser - 1231 Kilometers with the Stream . For a two-part TV documentary about the Rhine broadcast by SWR in May 2019, he even repeated part of this adventure and swam again from Lake Tomas to Nonnenwerth .

Private life

Fath is married and has three sons.
