Andreas Felber (musicologist)

Andreas Felber (* 1971 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian musicologist who is known as a jazz critic and radio presenter.

Felber grew up in Mattsee . He received classical piano training and then played in the band The Mosquitos . First in Salzburg, later in Vienna, he studied musicology, history and political science . He did his doctorate on the beginnings of free jazz in Vienna. As a freelance music journalist, he works with a focus on jazz , electronic and new music, etc. a. for the daily newspaper Der Standard as well as specialist magazines such as Concerto or Jazz Podium . In Ö1 he moderates music programs such as jazztime , the Ö1 Jazznacht , Spielräume or Zeit-Ton . Since autumn 2003 he has also been teaching at the Institute for Popular Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .
