Andreas J. Rottendorf

Andreas Josef Rottendorf (born October 10, 1897 in Ennigerloh ; † November 20, 1971 in Münster ) was a German writer and entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Rottendorf Prize , which is awarded every year for services to the Low German language and for progress in pharmacy.

Life

Rottendorf was born in 1897 on the Schultenhof in Ennigerloh as the son of the farmer Heinrich Stephan Rottendorf and his wife Josepha Antoinette Rottendorf. Wilke born. Rottendorf was also called Schulte Rottrup .

From 1912 Rottendorf first attended the Laurentianum Warendorf grammar school , but then switched to the Paulinum grammar school in Münster . In 1916, Rottendorf prematurely finished school with the Abitur due to the war.

After studying law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster, Rottendorf first became a businessman in a chemical factory in Bückeburg . In 1928 he founded the Rottendorf chemical factory in Berlin. After the Second World War he returned to Ennigerloh. In 1949, Rottendorf Pharma resumed production there.

Rottendorf died on November 20, 1971 in the Münster University Clinic and was buried in his hometown of Ennigerloh.
