Andreas Lange (* 1680 in Lübeck ; † October 13, 1713 there ) was a German lawyer and poet.

Live and act

Lange studied law at the Universities of Helmstedt and Leipzig . In Leipzig he received his doctorate in 1703 with a dissertation De aequitate juris Lubecensis for Doctor iuris utriusque . After a long grand tour , he returned to his hometown and became a council consultant . He specialized in maritime law and shipping law and published a first basic introduction and collection on this area of ​​law in 1713.

In addition to his work as a lawyer, Lange was known as a poet and translator. He translated Aesop's fables into German verse, as did Torquato Tasso's Aminta , and created the libretti for Johann Christian Schieferdecker's Lübeck evening music for the years 1707–1713. The Abendmusiken 1714 also used a text by him. The standards and rules he set determined the performances for almost 100 years.
