Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg

Andreas Sebastian Meyer-Lindenberg (born October 31, 1965 in Bad Godesberg ) is a German psychiatrist . He is director of the Central Institute for Mental Health in Mannheim .

Life

Meyer-Lindenberg studied medicine in Bonn and at Cornell University in New York as well as mathematics at the Fernuniversität Hagen . Since 1984 he has been a member of the Corps Palatia Bonn . His medical and scientific work took him via Bonn and Giessen to the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda (Maryland) , where he spent ten years focusing on the scientific focus of his work, research into schizophrenia and depression using imaging, genetic and psychopharmacological methods as well as the Dedicated to study of biological mechanisms of human social behavior. In 2007 he succeeded Fritz Henn as director at the Central Institute for Mental Health and thus professor for psychiatry at the Medical Faculty Mannheim at the University of Heidelberg . In 2009 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and in 2011 a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences .
