Greucourt is a commune Déléguée in the French commune of La Romaine with 77 inhabitants (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Haute-Saône in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté .

geography

Greucourt is located at an altitude of 212 m above sea level, 1.5 km south of Fresne-Saint-Mamès and about 35 km north-northwest of the city of Besançon (as the crow flies). The street row village extends in the southwest of the department, in the Saône basin , on the western edge of the valley low of the Romaine . From the course of the river, the area extends south over a 20 m high steep slope to the adjacent plateau, which is on average 225 m and is used for agriculture. The plateau is made up of sediments from the Upper Jurassic period .

Part of the hamlet of Estravaux (209 m) on the Romaine belongs to the Commune déléguée Greucourt . Neighboring towns of Greucourt are Fresne-Saint-Mamès in the north, Vezet in the east and La Vernotte and Saint-Gand in the south.

history

In the Middle Ages Greucourt belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in it to the area of ​​the Bailliage d'Amont . The local rule was held by the Lords of Vezet. Together with Franche-Comté , Greucourt finally came to France with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. In the hamlet of Estravaux, which is documented as early as 1242, there was a blast furnace in the 19th century .

With effect from December 15, 2015, the former municipalities of Greucourt , Le Pont-de-Planches and Vezet were merged to form Commune nouvelle La Romaine. The municipality of Greucourt belonged to the arrondissement of Vesoul and the canton of Fresne-Saint-Mamès .

Attractions

The sights of Greucourt include the statue of Saint Anthony (18th century) and a lavoir (19th century) that once served as a fountain, wash house and cattle trough.

Until well into the 20th century, Greucourt was a village dominated by agriculture (arable farming, fruit growing and cattle breeding). Outside the primary sector there are few jobs in the village. Some workers are also commuters who work in the larger towns in the area.

The place is located off the major thoroughfares on a department road that leads from Fresne-Saint-Mamès to La Chapelle-Saint-Quillain . There are other road links with Les Bâties, Vezet and Vaudey.
