Andrei Alexejewitsch Tjumenzew ( Russian Андрей Алексеевич Тюменцев , born May 6, 1963 in Vladivostok ) is a Russian player agent , handball coach and former handball player . He was mostly used on the back center .
Career
The 1.90 m tall and 82 kg heavy right-hander began his career in 1979 at Dinamo Astrakhan , with whom he became Soviet champion in 1990 and runner-up in 1989 and 1991. In the EHF Cup 1990/91 he reached the semi-finals. He then moved to the Spanish league ASOBAL to BM Granollers , where he was voted the best player in the league. He then ended his career at BM Málaga in 1993/94.
At the Junior World Championship in 1983 Tyumensev became world champion. With the Soviet national team he played his first tournament at the Carpathian Cup in 1985 in Poland. For the 1986 World Cup he has not yet been considered. But he was in the younger squad for the B World Cup in 1987 in Japan, where he was able to qualify for the 1988 Olympic Games by winning the tournament . In Seoul, Tyumensev was originally only second choice behind Georgi Swiridenko from SKA Minsk , whose club coach Spartak Mironowitsch was also the national coach. After Swiridenko started poorly in the opening game against the 1984 Olympic champion, Yugoslavia, Tyumensev came on and contributed six goals to the important success. In the tournament he finally played all six games and scored 21 goals. In the final, he scored four times and became Olympic champion. Later he took over the captaincy of the team. At the 1990 World Cup he surprisingly lost to Sweden in the final.
After the end of his active career, Andrei Tyumensev stayed in Bilbao . In 2001 he became a coach at Club Handbol La Salle Montcada . He later worked as a player agent.

Andrei Tjumenzew's son Alexander Tioumentsev Barabash is a Spanish handball player.
In the run-up to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , Tyumensev was the first torchbearer at the Olympic torch relay in Astrakhan .
