Corruption allegations

2019 the team of the Russian lawyer, political activist and founder revealed the NGO Fund to Fight Corruption (Russian Фонд борьбы с коррупцией, in short. FBK) Alexei Navalny a corruption scandal in which from the long-standing affair Kostins with the TV presenter and journalist Nailya Asker -zade (born December 13, 1987, Baku , Azerbaijan ). The lover of the president of the state bank VTB has been using the "Bombardier Global 6000, T7-KLT" aircraft, which formerly belonged to a subsidiary of VTB, and a 62 m long yacht at the expense of the Russian state. Today the jet belongs to an offshore company that apparently has nothing to do with VTB. And although the owner of the yacht could not be determined, an offshore company is also involved here, as the creation of the ownership documents was carried out anonymously via a mailbox company. The FBK team claims to have established a connection between Asker-zade and the use of the jet by looking at various cities where the journalist had interviews with high-ranking figures (mostly politicians), her Instagram photos and all movements of the plane related to each other. Navalny and his team determined which flights the presenter made with the luxury jet. In 2019 alone she flew to Sochi (February 12), London (March 1), Tanzania (June 20), Nice (July 13), Rome (August 22), Vladivostok (September 3), Brussels ( September 19), St. Petersburg (June 8, June 24, September 24), Irkutsk (September 24), Paris (April 24, October 4), Yekaterinburg (October 7), Tallinn ( September 14) November) and Riga (November 15). The plane costs about 60 million US dollars (or 3.9 billion rubles), although the FBK does not consider it to be ruled out that the jet may only have been rented. But even then, the rental costs would have to be estimated at the immense sum of 559,000 rubles per hour of flight. Since Asker-zade made 16 flights with a total duration of 51.5 hours with the machine between August 4 and September 3, 2019, the monthly rental costs would amount to 28.9 million rubles. The 62 m long yacht named “Sea & Us” is also valued at 62 million dollars (or around 4 billion rubles). To prove that Kostin's lover was actually on the yacht, Navalny's team compared photos of the yacht with photos from Asker-zade's Instagram account, on which various details of the yacht can be seen. All of the aforementioned sums of money are well above the budget of the Russian TV presenter.

Furthermore, the investigation of the FBK has revealed that, according to the Unified State Register of Real Estate Nailya Asker-zade since 2015 owns 53 Ar land and a house with an area of 923 sqm cottage-village Shukowka-3 in Rublyovka , Moscow region is. This dacha will cost at least 250 million rubles. Two apartments in the “Nowaja Ostoshenka” residential complex in Moscow, which Asker-zade acquired in 2011 and 2014, are also mentioned. She received the first apartment (229 m² living space) as a gift from Kirill Zimarin, the manager of a subsidiary of VTB in Cyprus, while the second apartment (155 m² living space) she took over directly from VTB, the previous owner. The television presenter confirmed in an interview with the fashion magazine "Tatler" that she owned an apartment in Moscow and emphasized that it was large. According to Navalny in his video contribution, Kostin uses colossal sums of money from his bank, which is 60.9% state-owned, in order to acquire luxury real estate objects for his beloved. In any case, it is clear from what has been said that there are numerous indications, if not evidence, of a corruption scandal.
