Andrzej Bielecki

Andrzej Bielecki , also André Bielecki , (born September 17, 1907 in Kraków , Poland , † 1959 ) was a Polish opera singer with a tenor voice .

Life

Andrzej Bielecki initially studied law at the University of Kraków and passed the state examination in law. From 1928 he took singing lessons and was a student of Bolesław Wallek-Walewski in Kraków . He received thorough vocal training over the next 10 years. In 1938 he made his debut at the Kraków Opera House in a small tenor role in the opera Halka . Further vocal studies took place with Kniagin and Padre Bernardino Rizzi in Kraków.

During the Second World War he studied singing with Maestro Pesci in Rome . In 1942 he was interned in a concentration camp near Isernia . In an Allied bombing raid , however, he managed to escape. He stayed in Italy because a return to his homeland was not possible (probably due to the events of the war). He was engaged immediately after an audition at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples ; there he made his debut in 1944 as the painter Cavaradossi in Tosca . In April 1944 he joined the Polish forces in exile and during this time gave several concerts in front of the Allied troops in Italy.

In 1946 he made a successful tour of the Great Britain and Scotland as a lieder singer . At the beginning of the 1950s there followed appearances in European music centers, u. a. in Paris . In the 1951/52 season he performed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona , a. a. in the title role of Faust and as Prince Schuiski in Boris Godunow . In the 1956/57 season he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Flensburg City Theater .

Bielecki died in 1959. Nowadays he is almost completely forgotten as a singer.

In 1952 Bielecki sang the role of Shuiski in the now legendary Boris Godunow studio recording alongside Boris Christoff (in the title role). The recording was published by EMI ; The conductor was Issay Dobrowen . Bielecki also took on the two small roles of Khrushchov and Missail in this recording. Boris Godunov was his only major opera recording. Bielecki's voice is characterized in the recording by a “nasal, almost tearful” tone. He sings the role of Schiuski with “great perfidy”; however, the voice sounds "a bit tired". Total However, Bielecki "convinced" as Prince Schuiski. Before the recording he had already sung the role of Schiuski several times alongside Christoff on stage.

Bielecki also made recordings as a tenor soloist with the Don Kosaken Chor Serge Jaroff . When specifying the soloist on records, in addition to his real name, the pseudonym “A. Stanislavitsch ”is used.
