Andrew Jon "Andy" McCollum (born June 2, 1970 in Akron , Ohio ) is a retired American arena football and American football player. He played 15 seasons as the center in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

From 1989 to 1992 McCollum attended the University of Toledo , where he played college football for the Toledo Rockets . There he played in the position of the guard , where he was elected to the first team All-MAC in his last two seasons . For the centenary of the Rockets in 2017, Molls was voted 48th in the All-Century Team.

In May 1994, the Milwaukee Mustangs signed McColum. After the season he signed the Cleveland Browns , because they needed a person to snap for the training camps and McCollum came from the area and was available. On August 29, 1994, he was released by the Browns. On August 30, 1994, the Browns enlisted McColum for their Practice Squad . In mid-November 1994, the New Orleans Saints signed McCollum. There he played a total of five seasons. In 1995 he was also posted to the Barcelona Dragons in the World League . Since 1996 he has played in all games.

For the 1999 season , the St. Louis Rams committed McCollum. In his first season with the Rams, he reached Super Bowl XXXIV , the first of the franchise, and won it with them. In February 2000, McCollum was awarded a new three-year contract for $ 3.4 million. He started in the following six seasons. After the 2001 season , he received the Ed Block Courage Award . In November 2005, he signed a contract extension that tied him to the Rams until the 2007 season.

On July 31, 2008, McCollum was signed by the Detroit Lions . With this he scored a 0-16 season for the first time in NFL history. Shortly afterwards he ended his career.
