Before Merlin

Shortly after graduating from university, she landed a role on the BBC- produced sitcom Orrible (where she starred alongside Johnny Vaughan ). Although the series was seen by many as a big failure, it did not mean the end of Angel Coulby, who received roles in many top British series (including Doctor Who , Casualty or Hustle ) and also first roles in movies (including a wedding to third next to her future Merlin co-star Anthony Head ).

Merlin time

Angel Coulby made her breakthrough in the UK in 2008 when she landed one of the lead roles in the BBC family series Merlin - The New Adventures . In this adaptation of the King Arthur legend, the focus is on how young people become historical figures as we know them. Angel Coulby plays the role of Gwen , one of the four main characters. Introduced as Lady Morgana's kitchen maid , she is young Merlin's first friend . She is against the rule of current King Uther Pendragon , but believes Arthur will make a good king, and over time she develops feelings for Arthur, which he reciprocates. At the end of the series she is crowned Queen of Camelot by Arthur.

Since the series is a huge hit in the UK and is gaining increasing popularity in other countries, Angel Coulby became a star thanks to her role.
