Angela Terese Rock (born October 15, 1963 in Lakewood , California ) is a former American volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career
Rock played indoor volleyball at San Diego State University from 1981 to 1984 . From 1985 to 1989 she was a national player . In 1986 she took part in the World Cup in Czechoslovakia and won the bronze medal with the team at the Goodwill Games in Moscow in the same year . She also won bronze at the Pan American Games in 1987. A year later she took part in the Olympic Games in Seoul . The tournament ended in seventh place for the USA.
From 1987 to 2000 Rock played beach volleyball in US tournament series and from 1992 to 1998 also on the international FIVB World Tour . Her most important partners were Liz Masakayan , Nancy Reno , Karolyn Kirby , Linda Hanley , Patty Dodd and Karrie Poppinga . Between 1991 and 1996 she won 27 tournaments on the AVP or WPVA tour. In 1991 she was named the best attacker. Internationally, rock almost exclusively had top ten placements. At the 1997 World Championships in Los Angeles , she finished ninth on the side of Karrie Poppinga.
Rock is also active as a trainer both indoors and at the beach. As early as 1996 she coached the American beach volleyball duo Holly McPeak / Nancy Reno at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . Later she was u. a. Trainer of the "Gauchos" at the University of California, Santa Barbara and the "Jaguars" at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California .
