action

The Tiefenthaler family has just moved into a beautiful apartment with a large garden. Everything seems perfect until the neighbor Tiberius from the basement apartment interferes more and more in her life. What starts with home-baked cakes and small letters is increasingly becoming stalking . The couple can no longer find peace and live in constant fear, including for their children. When they are accused and reported by Mr. Tiberius of sexually abusing their children, they seek help from the authorities. They have to be disappointed to note that the rule of law has no leverage here as long as the neighbor is not violent. Both sides call the police several times.

The Tiefenthalers try to sell their apartment again. That too fails due to the behavior of the neighbor. You offer him a lot of money to get him to move out as the situation becomes more and more acute. Hermann, Randolph's father, offers his help in this hopeless situation. Vigilante justice is to be carried out against Tiberius using a weapon that Hermann legally possesses. He is shot at the front door and the police are called immediately. Hermann admits the act and is sentenced to eight years in prison. In reality, it was Randolph who fired the fatal shot at the neighbor. However, he only admits this to his wife.

Reviews

"Fear - The Enemy in My House" is superficial and in the first 45 minutes also a criminal thriller, rather in the second half it turns into a parable about law and justice as well as the - again and again disturbing - human nature. "

- Prisma.de

"A (television) thriller enriched with socio-ethical issues with a more conventional" Home Invasion "story, but exciting thanks to solid actors and an audiovisually sophisticated concept."

- Filmdienst.de

“In 2013, the deputy“ Spiegel ”editor-in-chief Dirk Kurbjuweit told the story of the Tiefenthalers in his novel“ Angst ”. He was open about being inspired by real events. Kurbjuweit's family had to fight a stalker à la Tiberius ten years earlier - the author developed murder fantasies and despaired of the rule of law. Kurbjuweit has now also written the script for the film adaptation by Thomas Berger. Heino Ferch plays the father of the family with a convincing arrogance, for which Anja Kling, as a perfectionist wife, alternately loves and despises him. As Tiberius, Udo Samel sometimes moves close to the limit of caricature, but does not exceed it "
