Career

societies

Sønstevold played in her youth for SF Grei and Linderud / Grei. In 2010 she moved to the first division club Kolbotn IL , for whom she played 113 first division games in the following years. For the 2015 season she switched to the current champion Lillestrøm SK Kvinner and won the Norwegian championship five times in a row. With Lillestrøm, she has always played in the UEFA Women's Champions League , but never got past the quarter-finals, which were reached in 2018/19. In 2019/20 they failed to qualify.

National teams

Sønstevold went through all Norwegian junior teams and took part with the U-17 team in the qualification and the finals of the 2009 U-17 European Women's Football Championship in Nyon , in which Norway finished fourth. A year later, she was able to qualify for the 2010 U-19 European Women's Football Championship for the second qualifying round, but failed in this because of Germany. In the same year, they reached the second round in qualifying for the 2011 U-19 European Football Championship , in which they qualified for the finals in April 2011. In this she reached the final with her team, but lost it with 1: 8 against Germany. By reaching the semi-finals, however, the Norwegians had already qualified for the 2012 U-20 Women's World Cup in Japan . There she reached the quarter-finals with the U-20 team and met Germany again. Although they only conceded half as many goals as in the European Championship final, they didn't score any themselves, which ended the World Cup for Norway. Before that, she had already made two appearances for the U-23 team, for which she played other games in the following years. On January 14, 2014, she played her first full international match against Spain in La Manga , Spain . However , it was not taken into account for the 2014 Algarve Cup . Only a year later did she play her next two games in the 2015 Algarve Cup , including the placement game against Denmark. On April 23, 2015, she was appointed to the preliminary squad of 35 players for the 2015 World Cup. However, she was initially deleted from the final squad on May 14. When Caroline Graham Hansen had to cancel due to injury on May 19, she was re-nominated. But it was not used at the World Cup.

In qualifying for the 2017 European Championship , she was only used in the 2-0 win in Wales. It was also nominated for the finals , but only used once. Since the Norwegians could not score a goal in the finals for the first time and lost the three group games, the European Championship ended prematurely for them. After that, she was nominated for three games in qualifying for the 2019 World Cup, but not used. In 2018 she was used in two games at the Algarve Cup . After that, she was only used once in the U-23 team in May 2019.
