Anjunabeats is a British record label that specializes in trance . It was founded in 2000 by Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki and is based in London. The first release was called Volume 1 by Anjunabeats and became a considerable success in the club scene. (This release must not be confused with the later mixed CD Anjunabeats Vol. 1 from Above & Beyond.)
A short time later, Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki met Tony McGuinness and the three of them founded the trance project Above & Beyond . Above & Beyond hit # 1 on the UK Club Charts with their remix of Chakras Track Home . This brought the trio great notoriety and many more labels wanted them to remix their tracks. Probably the most interesting request came from Madonna . She offered them to remix their hit What it feels like for a girl .
Due to this success of Above & Beyond, of course, their label also gained popularity. Their side projects, which are named Oceanlab , Aalto , Freestate , Nitromethane , POS , Rollerball and Tranquility Base , also gained fame and were popular with well-known DJs. In 2002 James Grant joined the management team, which further expanded the label. New DJs such as Rusch & Murray , Super8 and Smith & Pledger were added.
In 2005 the sub-label Anjunadeep was founded. This label is more dedicated to the music genres Progressive Trance and Progressive House .
Today Anjunabeats works closely with the German label euphonic records , so that, for example, tracks by Kyau & Albert appear on this label.
Anjunabeats was nominated for Best Global Dance Record Label at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2016 . Two releases of the label were nominated for the Grammy Awards : the album Damage Control by Mat Zo in 2015 and the single "We're All We Need" by Above & Beyond in 2016.
