Anke Kuhbier

Inge-Anke Kuhbier (born Heller ; born January 1, 1943 in Berlin ; † July 30, 2018 ) was a Hamburg politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany and a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

After graduating from high school at the Bertha-Lyzeum in Groß Flottbek and discontinuing her training as a commercial artist at the professional art school in Alsterdamm, she moved to the USA at the age of 21. There she married, had a son and after two and a half years - as a widowed Mac Arthur - returned to Hamburg with her child. From 1970 she was married to the future Senator from Hamburg, Jörg Kuhbier , with whom she had two other children.

In 1991 she was co-founder of the "Society for the Promotion of Garden Culture eV" based in Berlin. After her time in Parliament, she wrote gardening books with a focus on roses, including The Most Beautiful Roses and Monet's Garden .

She joined the SPD in 1967 and was a member of the Juso state board . In addition to other offices as a local politician , she was a member of the Hamburg-Eimsbüttel district assembly for 15 years , including seven years as chairwoman.

In 1978 she ran for the first time - on the SPD list place 97 - for a seat in the Hamburg parliament.

From 1991 to 1997 she was a member of the Hamburg parliament. There her focus was on school and culture , which she also represented in the respective committees .

She was a deputy of the cultural authority and chairwoman of the Hamburg Cultural Forum.
