Jörg Kuhbier (born July 21, 1940 in Dessau ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). From 1983 to 1987 he was Senator for Water Management, Energy and Urban Waste Management and until 1991 Senator and Head of the Environment Agency of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Kuhbier began studying law, sociology and journalism at the universities in Hamburg and Munich , which he completed in 1966 with the first state examination and in 1969 with the second state examination. He then entered the administrative service of the city of Hamburg and worked in various authorities, including a. as senior government director of the economic authority, most recently as a senior official in the environmental authority. Since 1981 he has held the position of director of the Senate.

From 1993 Kuhbier worked as an independent management consultant , lawyer and mediator .

Kuhbier is the executive chairman of the Offshore Wind Energy Foundation , which is why he has been called a "wind lobbyist" by the taz . Political party

Kuhbier has been a member of the SPD since 1966, was already a member of the Eimsbüttel district executive through the Hamburg-Harvestehude district in 1969 and was elected chairman of the Eimsbüttel SPD district association in October 1982. From 1994 to 2000 he was regional chairman of the Hamburg Social Democrats.

Public offices

Kuhbier served from February 2, 1983 to January 20, 1987 as Senator for Water Management, Energy and Urban Waste Management in the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg led by Mayor Klaus von Dohnanyi . Together with Eugen Wagner, he was responsible for managing the building authorities (→ Senate von Dohnanyi IV ). He was then Senator for the Environment and Head of the Environment Authority in the Senate headed by First Mayor Henning Voscherau (→ Senate Voscherau I ).

In 2008, Kuhbier was elected judge at the Hamburg Constitutional Court; previously he was a deputy member there.
