Axel Gedaschko (born September 20, 1959 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He was until August 2010 from may 2008 Economic senator and Präses the Ministry of Economy and Labor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Since 2011 he has been President of the GdW - Federal Association of German Housing and Real Estate Companies .

After graduating from high school in Buchholz in the Nordheide in 1980 , Gedaschko completed his two-year military service as a contract soldier in Hamburg-Neugraben-Fischbek . He studied law at the Universities of Hamburg and Göttingen . In 1988 he passed the first state examination with a focus on administrative law and administration. Gedaschko joined the Junge Union at the age of 16 and the CDU at the age of 21. He sees himself as a supporter of project-related black-green collaboration.

Public offices

In November 2000 Gedaschko was elected First District Councilor of the Harburg district. In 2003 he was directly elected to three opposing candidates with 65.8% of the votes in the first ballot, district administrator of the Harburg district. He held the office until 2006, when he was appointed to the State Council in the Authority for Urban Development and the Environment by First Mayor Ole von Beust .

In January 2007 Gedaschko succeeded Michael Freytag , who took over the finance department, himself Senator and President of the authority for urban development and the environment. In the first black and green state government of the Federal Republic of Germany, this department went to Anja Hajduk ( GAL ) on May 7, 2008 , while Gedaschko succeeded Gunnar Uldall as President of the Department of Economics and Labor.

With the election of Christoph Ahlhaus as the new First Mayor of Hamburg on August 25, 2010, Gedaschko left office at his own request, as announced in July.
