Hans EB Kruse

Hans Emil Bernhard Kruse (born May 3, 1891 in Hamburg ; † March 17, 1968 in Reinbek ) was a German businessman and Senator from Hamburg .

Life

Kruse completed an apprenticeship at the Hamburg foreign trade company Wiechers & Helm, which he became owner in 1923. The company was active in the Asia and Africa business.

From 1928 he was a board member of the Hamburg Exporters Association and from 1931 belonged to the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce . There he acted for a long time as vice president and was chairman of the committee for foreign trade. He was also a member of the board of the German Industry and Trade Conference and deputy chairman of the East Asian Association. From 1933 to 1968 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Beiersdorf AG .

Kruse was appointed Senator for Trade, Industry and Shipping in Hamburg from May to November 1945 . On May 15, 1945 he took part in the first "Consultation of the Provisional Administration", chaired by Mayor Rudolf Petersen . After his confirmation by the military government on June 16, 1945, Kruse did not receive his certificate of appointment as senator until July 20, 1945. On November 27, 1945, he resigned from the Senate.

He was the father of three children, the entrepreneur Hellmut Kruse (* 1926; † 2018), the Romance philologist Margot Kruse (* 1928; † 2013) and the art historian Ursula Weiss (* 1935).
