Ann Buchanan
Ann Buchanan (born in the 1940s) is an Oscar-nominated British makeup artist and hairdresser.
She grew up in Glasgow where her father, John Buchanan, worked as a doctor. She holds a Masters Degree from Glasgow University in English and Drama Studies. After graduating, she taught before starting to work as a makeup artist and hairdresser for television and film in the late 1980s. She has worked with a variety of actors including Al Pacino , Hugh Grant and Ali G, and in 1998 she was nominated for a British Academy Television Award for her work on The Mill on the Floss . Three years later, in 2001 , she and Amber Sibley were nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Make-up and Best Hairstyles for their work on Shadow of the Vampire . Buchanan also put makeup on Margaret Thatcher.
