Samuel Bendahan (born June 11, 1980 in Lausanne ; resident in Seengen ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ), president of the BSC Association in Lausanne and managing director of the Cantonal Bank of Neuchâtel . He has been a member of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation since January 1, 2017 .

Life

Bendahan grew up in the area of Morges in the canton of Vaud . His mother is a Protestant from Aargau , his Jewish father is originally from Morocco . Bendahan obtained his Matura at the high school in Lausanne. In 1999 he began studying economics at the University of Lausanne . In 2009, Bendahan received his PhD in Economics Management. Since 2010 he has been teaching at the University of Lausanne. In addition, he is president and co-founder of the BSC association in Lausanne, which has been developing and supporting cultural, academic or non-profit political projects since June 2011. In July 2014 he joined the Board of Directors of the Neuchâtel Cantonal Bank.

Political career

From 2011 to 2012 he was a municipal councilor in Lausanne. Since 2011 he has also been a councilor in the canton of Vaud and its finance commission. In 2017 he was elected to the National Council.

Varia

Bendahan is president of the Swiss umbrella association for reading and writing and of the evening high school. He is also Vice President of the Le Bled housing cooperative , a founding member of Microcrédit Solidaire Suisse and a member of VCS Vaud.
