Cesla Virginia Amarelle (born September 14, 1973 in Montevideo , Uruguay ; resident in Winterthur and Yverdon-les-Bains ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Amarelle was from 2007 to 2011 in the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud and from 2009 to 2011 in the municipal council of Yverdon-les-Bains. From 2011 to 2017 she was a member of the National Council. She also presided over the SP Vaud from March 2008 to April 2012. From 2012 Amarelle was vice-president, after the resignation of Yvonne Feri, she was interim president in 2016 and from 2016 to 2017 co-president of the SP Women Switzerland . In addition to Swiss citizenship, she also has Uruguayan citizenship.

Amarelle has been a member of the State Council of the Canton of Vaud since 2017 , where she has taken over the education, youth and culture departments.
