Adèle Thorens Goumaz (born December 15, 1971 in Solothurn ; resident in Villarzel and Sainte-Croix ) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ).

Life

Thorens Goumaz is married, has one child and lives in Lausanne. She comes from the originally Huguenot family who founded the record player company Thorens in the Swiss Jura . She studied philosophy , history and political science at the University of Lausanne and graduated with a licentiate . From 2004 to 2009 she worked for the education center Romandie of WWF Switzerland . She then went into business for herself as a consultant, but continues to fulfill a mandate for the WWF.

Political career

Thorens Goumaz has been a member of the Greens since 1999. From 2002 to 2007 she was a member of the municipal council of the city of Lausanne , where she headed the green parliamentary group from 2005. She was elected to the National Council in the 2007 elections and confirmed in the 2011 elections. She was a member of the Economic and Tax Commission (WAK) from 2007 to 2011; today she is a member of the Commission for Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (UREK).

On April 21, 2012, she and Regula Rytz were elected co-presidents of the Swiss Green Party. In the 2015 elections , she missed direct re-election, but retained her seat in the National Council by renouncing the elected Council of States Luc Recordon as a successor. In 2016 she ended the co-presidency of Green Switzerland, Regula Rytz was elected as sole president. She was elected to the Council of States in the 2019 elections.
