Andrea Ferris Quintero (born September 21, 1987 in La Chorrera ) is a Panamanian middle and long distance runner .

Athletic career

For the first time at an international championship, Andrea Ferris competed at the Central American Championships in San José in 2002 , where she reached fifth place over 5000 meters. A year later she won the gold medal over 3000 meters and bronze over 1500 meters at the Central American Youth Championships. In 2004 she won gold and silver over 5000 and 1500 meters at the Junior Central American Championships. At the Central American Championships in Managua , she won the bronze medal over 1500 meters, was fifth over 5000 meters and fourth with the Panamanian 4 x 400 meter relay. At the same time, she had to end her run over 10,000 meters early. In 2005 she won three gold medals in the 1500, 5000 and 10,000 meters at the Junior Central American Championships. At the Central American Championships she was fourth over 1500 meters and fifth over 5000 and 10,000 meters. She also took part in the Junior South American Championships in Rosario , where she finished seventh over 5000 meters and ninth over 1500 meters.

In 2006 she won the gold medals over 1500 and 5000 meters at the Junior Central American Championships in Guatemala City and took fourth place over 3000 meters. At the South American Championships in Tunja , she finished fourth over 800 meters and had to end her run over 1500 meters early. In 2007 she won gold over 1500 meters and bronze over 800 meters and with the 4 x 400 meter relay at the Central American Games in San José. In 2008 she took part in the Ibero-American Championships in Iquique for the first time , where she was sixth over 3000 meters, eighth over 1500 meters and eliminated over 800 meters in the preliminary round. At the U23 South American Championships in Lima , she won the bronze medal over 1500 meters and finished fourth over 800 meters. In 2009 she finished fourth at the South American Championships over 800 and 1500 meters.

In 2010 she won the gold medals in the 800 and 1500 meters at the Central American Games in Panama City , in the obstacle course and with the 4 x 400 meter relay, setting three new championship records. This was followed by the silver medal over 800 meters and a fourth place over 1500 meters at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez . At the Ibero-American Championships in San Fernando , she won the gold medal in the 800-meter run. At the Central American Championships, as in the previous games, she won four gold medals. In 2011 she won the silver medal over 800 meters at the South American Championships in Buenos Aires . She also won gold medals over 800 and 1500 meters and silver over 400 meters and with the relay at the Central American Championships. In 2012 she took part in the South American Cross Country Championships in Lima, where she finished eleventh. At the Central American Championships in Managua, she won gold over 400, 800 and 1500 meters and bronze with the Panamanian relay. Then she won the silver medal over 1500 meters at the Ibero-American Championships in Barquisimeto and finished sixth over 800 meters. She also qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated over 800 meters with 2: 05.59 min in the first round .

In 2013 Andrea Ferris won gold medals in the 800 and 1500 meters at the Central American Games in San José, silver with the relay and finished fourth in the 400 meters. At the South American Championships in Cartagena , she won the bronze medals over 800 and 1500 meters. Towards the end of the year she won the silver medal over 800 meters and bronze in the obstacle course and over 1500 meters at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Trujillo . In 2014 she won the silver medal over 1500 meters at the South American Games in Santiago de Chile and finished fourth in the obstacle course. In 2015 she won three more gold medals over 800 and 1500 meters and over 3000 m obstacle at the Central American Championships. At the South American Championships in Lima, she finished sixth over 800 meters. In addition, she took part for the first time in the Pan American Games in Toronto , where she was eighth over 1500 meters and ninth in the obstacle course. In 2017 she finished fourth over 800 meters at the championships in Luque . In November she won the bronze medal in the obstacle course at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta with 10: 09.05 min.

In 2011, Ferris was Panamanian champion over 400 meters.
