Ann Jillian (* 29. January 1950 in Cambridge , Massachusetts as Ann Jura Nausėda ) is an American actress .

Life

Ann Jillian was born as Ann Jura Nausėda as the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants in Cambridge and accordingly speaks Lithuanian . She grew up in a Roman Catholic household.

After Jillian was already in front of the camera at the age of ten in the films Riot in Toy Land and Gypsy - Queen of the Night , she played a few small series such as Twilight Zone and My Three Sons shortly thereafter . In the early 1970s she dubbed several characters in the cartoon series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and Sealab 2020 before becoming a leading actress in light television comedies and dramas in the 1980s.

Despite being a well-established child actress, Jillian went through a period in the 1970s when she was barely recruited because she was too old to play teenage roles and too young to play adult roles. She was able to stay afloat with a few series jobs. She had enough time to look elsewhere so that she studied psychology for a while, following the advice of casting director Hoyt Bowers that "no matter what she does, always work on her craft." So oriented she turned to musicals and drama, touring with the play Words and Music and starring in 1979 on Broadway with Mickey Rooney and Ann Miller in the play Sugar Babies .

When her career started again, she received a nomination for Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie at the 1983 Golden Globe Awards for the lead role in the television production Mae West . However, she could not prevail against Ingrid Bergman . For this she received this award at the 1989 Golden Globe Awards for the film The Story of Ann Jillian , in which she played herself. The film told the story of her breast cancer and how she defeated it, including through a double mastectomy , and then followed it up for her public fight against breast cancer.

The following year she received her own comedy show with Ann Jillian on NBC , which was canceled after 13 episodes.

Ann Jillian has been married to a Chicago police officer Andy Murcia since 1977, with whom she has a son. Shortly after the marriage he quit his job and took care of his wife's career.
