Anna Stangl

Anna Stangl (* 1961 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian painter and draftsman .

Life

Anna Stangl spent her childhood and youth in Upper Austria and Salzburg . From 1979 to 1983 she studied journalism and political science at the University of Vienna . From 1983 to 1986 he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and from 1986 to 1987 at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris .

Stangl made numerous trips through Central, Central and Eastern Asia , North and South America , North Africa , Australia and Melanesia . Scholarships and work stays have taken her to Japan , India , China , Kyrgyzstan , Kazakhstan , Spain , Paris , Rome , Elba , Ankara and Budapest .

The philosopher Robert Pfaller said of Stangl: Anna Stangl is primarily concerned with drawing in a poetically figurative way. The focus of her work is the human, especially female, body, but also plants and strange animals. A strange, slightly unsettling, poisonously beautiful world of hints, confusion of the soul and unexplained threats emerges in her work.

Her works can be found in the collections of the Albertina , in the Leopold Museum and in the Museum der Moderne Rupertinum .

Anna Stangl lives and works in Vienna.
