Anna Kim
Anna Kim (born September 10, 1977 in Daejeon / South Korea ) is an Austrian writer.
Life
Anna Kim came to West Germany in 1979 . At first she lived in Braunschweig and Gießen , from 1984 in Vienna , where she attended high school in Wenzgasse . From 1995 to 2000 she studied philosophy and theater studies at the University of Vienna ; she completed this course with a master's degree . From 2000 to 2002 she lived in London and Cambridge , after which she returned to Vienna.
Kim is a writer of narrative prose and poetry . From 1999 she published her work in various literary journals such as manuscripts , Zwischenwelt and VOLLTEXT . Her first novel , Die Bilderspur , was published in 2004.
She has been a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly since 2000 . In 2004 she received a Vienna writers' grant . In 2005 she took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt .
Her second novel was published in 2008 with Die gefrorene Zeit . Against the background of the unexplained fate of the 30,000 or so people who were registered missing after the wars in Yugoslavia , she tells the story of a Kosovar's search for his missing wife. On the one hand, she describes everyday life in the still conflict-ridden region of the Albanian-Kosovar-Serbian border area; on the other hand, she also gives an insight into the work of the archaeologists and forensic scientists who strive to identify the found dead, and the employees of the Red Cross who use their questionnaires to collect the “ ante-mortem data ” of the disappeared.
In the context of the project mitS Sprachwegs, organized by eleven Austrian literary institutions , Anna Kim traveled to Greenland in 2009/2010 and wrote the literary report The Invasion of the Private on the subject of postcolonialism and identity in Greenland. In 2012 the novel Anatomy of a Night was published , which also takes up the living situation of the people in Greenland.
Her novel The Great Homecoming was published in early 2017 . In the same year her prose volume Fingerpflanze followed , which was created in collaboration with the Norwegian artist Kristian Evju.
