The Annapurna South (also Annapurna Dakshin ) is a mountain in the Himalayas in Nepal .
The Annapurna South has a height of 7219 m and is located in the southwest of the Annapurna Himal massif . The central summit ( 7094 m ) connects to the east . To the east of this is the Hiunchuli trekking summit ( 6441 m ), to the north on the main Moditse ridge ( 7126 m ). The north and west flanks descend to the valley of Kali Gandaki , while the southern slopes are drained by its tributary Modi Khola .
The Annapurna South was first climbed as part of a Japanese expedition. Shoichiro Uyeo and Sherpa Mingma Tsering reached the summit on October 15, 1964. The ascent route led from Annapurna base camp over the central summit to the highest point of Annapurna South.
