Anne Brasseur
Anne Justine Brasseur (born May 19, 1950 in Luxemburg (city) ) is a Luxemburgish politician ( DP ).
Life
After graduating from Meederches Lycée in Limpertsberg in 1969 , Anne Brasseur studied psychology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and the University of Mannheim with a diploma in 1975. She worked, among other things, in the Service de Psychologie et d'Orientation scolaires at a vocational school and at the Lycée de Garçons in Esch-sur-Alzette and headed the Central d'Assistance Sociale service at the Public Prosecutor's Office.
In 1975 she was elected to the Luxembourg City Council, of which she was a member until September 2009 with a break of six years. In 1979 she was first elected to the Chambre des Députés . From 1980 to 1994 she was President of the Association des Femmes Libérales , which she made an honorary member. From 1991 to 1999 she was a lay judge in charge of construction, education and sport in Luxembourg City.
From 1999 to 2004 she was Minister for Education, Vocational Training and Sport in the Juncker - Polfer coalition government . In the parliamentary elections in Luxembourg in 2013 , she was re-elected to the Chambre des Députés. In 2018, she renounced her mandate.
In the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe , to which she was a member from 1995 to 1999 and again since 2009, she has been President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe since 2009 and President of the Assembly as a whole from 2014 to 2016. She has been a member of the jury of the Nuremberg International Human Rights Award since 2012 .
Brasseur has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom since 2018 .
Anne Brasseur has a daughter.
